History
Since 1978 when a small group of women gathered in a Colleyville bank with $25.00 donated by the Chamber of Commerce, their organization, the Colleyville Woman’s Club, has since grown into a well-known service organization of over 250 members that has raised over $2 million for local charities. CWC is a tax-exempt 501(c )(3) organization devoted exclusively to charitable and educational endeavors. Funds are awarded to a variety of community projects, programs and nonprofit organizations in the area.
The Colleyville Woman’s Club presented its first fashion show fundraiser 22 years ago with members modeling fashions from local shops on a runway decorated with home-made paper flowers. The first show netted $781 for charity. Through the years this event has grown into one of the premier daytime fundraisers in the Metroplex. Some1000 attendees are expected at this year’s event. Fashion sponsors have included a variety of shopping venues including the shops of Highland Park Village, North East Mall, and several local shops. Saks Fifth Avenue was the fashion sponsor for six years; CWC welcomes them back this year.
The 2008 Colleyville Woman’s Club Fashion Show Benefit celebrates the club’s 30th anniversary with the theme “Jewels of Generosity—Celebrating 30 Years of Priceless Caring with Commitment.” CWC is proud to welcome back Saks Fifth Avenue as fashion sponsor and Jan Strimple as fashion producer.
The Fashion Show Benefit includes elaborate silent and live auctions, raffles, and a Big Board. The auctions include vacation packages and wonderful merchandise from some of the finest merchants in the Metroplex. Guests come early to socialize and place their bids. Attendees are encouraged to check out the on-line auction catalogue for bargains and plan their shopping early. The 23rd annual fashion show and luncheon will be held at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Friday, March 14, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
